Last start Doomben drew soft sat 4th on a fast tempo and not clearest path in straight before running 4th beaten 1.5L. Overall figures from race were ok and he will improve sharply off that 3rd out to 1400m. Lightly raced 7YO suited here off a great map with J Orman.
R6 n1 END ASSEMBLY Leads inside from draw. 3rd up off 21 days stays at 1200m. Last start Toowoomba H8 drew inside wasn’t clean away and sat 3rd on an even tempo before running 4th beaten 4.8L but had track bias against it. That race was panels harder class wise than this one. Now had two runs back from spell back to his original stable and gets a perfect map/tempo back on a dryer track and looks set to peak. He has had some past issues, but his best form/figures wins this race clearly.
R7 n1 BUBBAS BAY Forward on map to be on speed early. 5th up off 14 days stays at 1200m. Last start Doomben G3 was off 35 days drew inside sat 3rd on a fast tempo and was too strong late winning by 1.1L when well backed. Overall figures from race were best of meeting and her closing speed off that tempo was also impressive. Bombproof mare racing in Brisbane and very hard to run down again.

R4 n1 TOO DARN DISCREET Maps closer today off soft draw. 4th up off 14 days rises 2kg out to 2000m (+400m). Last start Flemington drew outside went back to 8th off a fast tempo inside led and controlled on a fast tempo and was very strong late winning easily 0.8L. Overall figures from race were solid and out to 2000m off that should suit. Emerging filly who was heavily backed late going from maiden to Group 2 in doing so. Maps closer today and wet track suits-it was a soft win last start.
R8 n4 SKYBIR Closer on map today from this draw. 3rd up off 14 days stays at 1400m. Last start Flemington S6 drew outside and was restrained back to last early on a slow tempo (completely unsuited) but charged home late for 3rd beaten 0.3L by Revolutionary Miss who had perfect ride/run. Overall figures from the race were solid and she had strong closing speed between 600-200m when forced to make her run from the back before tanking out late 2d up, her run there was excellent. Has been totally disadvantaged for both runs this prep by race shape and slow tempos but sets up much better today 3rd up. Good quality mare and soft track suits.

Resumed off 245 days (injury) at Eagle Farm drew inside went back to last on an even tempo in small field and charged home late for 4th beaten 1.4L with typically strong closing speed. That run and trial sets him up very well – he was beaten 3.3L this race last year when trying to win it first up from a spell. Maps back inside but will be charging home late if he gets clear air in straight. Good horse and softer track suits.
R6 n3 SOUTHPORT TYCOON Maps 4P back MF and suited there late wit M Zahra riding. 3 up off 22 days stays at 1200m. Last start M Valley drew soft went back 9th on even tempo and stormed home late winning narrowly off a brilliant ride. Overall figures from race were solid but his closing speed was electric with fastest L200m of meeting. Sets up so well this race as he will finally get a fast tempo to chase late- last time that happened for him he made Veight/Riff Rocket and co look plain when he won the Aust Guineas at 1600m. Keen he can win today.
