R2 n5 PEREILLE Gets back near last on map on outside 2nd up 35 days won 1000m trial since Hawks June 3 on Heavy. Resumed off short 70 day break winning Sun Coast BM85 went well back early off a Fast tempo and destroyed them late winning by 4L. Figures from race were very good for meeting and his L400m was outstanding off a fast lead speed. This race doesn’t look a whole lot tougher than there and he has super closing speed over 1200m when ridden quietly and brought to the outside. Clear top pick.
R4 n7 MOSTLY CLOUDY Back 3 pairs off midfield on outside and suited there 5th up off 28 days and drops 2.5kg out to 3200m (+400m) which suits. Last start Flemington 2800m drew inside went back near last on an even tempo but huge close late for 2nd beaten 0.5L by The Map- he was a bit stiff not win there late. He was off 35 days and back in distance so the run had a lot of merit. That’s a good form reference for this class race today. Start prior was wide no cover the trip in Sydney Cup off a very fast tempo when 6th Circle of Fire- and again that’s the right form line for here. B Shinn a key riding change and well weighted here with 56kg. Clear top pick and proven out to 3318m.
R8 n6 VILANA Great map this tempo MF on outside 4th up on 7 day back up drops 3kg (Group 2 to Group 1) and out to 1400m (+200m) which suits. Last start drew inside went back 5th on Slow tempo and was dominant winner late (3.7L) when heavily backed late. Had tongue tie on FT and was 1350m back to 1200m off 14 days- so out to 1400m today is ideal. His closing splits in that race were elite and it is very hard to see how they can beat him today off that on a 7 day back up with 53kg.

Last start was wide trip on a Fast tempo but dominant late winning easy. Has got powerful closing speed and is in the zone, last 2 wins on soft tracks and looks winner again today.
R5 n4 ANTIQUE MISS – gets back from wider draw on map but out to 1650m today 4th up and soft ground is ideal. First two runs this prep he was dominant late 1200-1400m then last start drew outside went back to last on even tempo, held up on turn and charged home in very fast L200m for meeting. Very well weighted with the claim this class and should run over these late today

R4 n5 BATRANA Map suits today from good draw 2nd up off 14 days. Resumed off 207 days (did trial very well prior) last start Caulfield (on a +9m rail) went back last on a Fast tempo (run on horses were suited that race). She had blinkers off and was easy late in betting and held up at 200m before charging late beaten 0.9L. Very well bred 3YO filly will appreciate getting out to 1300m today (and further later) and was very good this track last prep at 1400m. Placed only run on Soft track but there were excuses that day and is clearly the one to beat.

R5 n5 CAPTAIN FURAI Forward on map from wide draw – should be ok behind lead group from there at 4th race start first prep rises 1kg back to 1400m (-100m). Last start 2nd here 1500m Heavy 8 to Franz Josef drew wide crossed over to 4th off a Very Slow tempo and challenged him strongly in straight ran 2nd beaten 1.5L. Was 1300-1500m there and out of strong midweek BM68 class win at Kenso in good figures. Back to BM72 class here suits off that. Proven in Heavy ground and talented young horse. Goes for spell after this run for better races in Spring.
R8 n2 HOPEFUL Good map 4th in 1/1 on Slow tempo 6th run for prep and on 7 day back up. Rises 3kg (stays in Listed class) out to 2400m (+400m) which suits. Last start drew inside went back 5th Fast tempo and had traffic issues in straight for 2nd beaten 1.75L by Eliyass (very smart). He charged home there and the finishing margin was unfair. Interesting riding change and loves wet tracks but now 13 runs since last win. Four runs back at 2600m Randwick Heavy 9 gave Circle of Fire weight and ran 2nd beaten 0.5L which is a great form reference for this class of race today. Huge close late last start and clear top pick off that. Heavy track suits ideally- he is very good in that ground.
R9 n6 FRANZ JOSEF Draws inside to lead and control again 3rd up. Stays at 1500m and at 58.5kg going from BM72 win to BM78 today off last start win here when drew outside led and controlled on a Very Slow tempo but too strong late when challenged to win impressively. His L200m there was best in race and good for meeting after leading – so all honours to him there. Better map today early for him and hard to see him not winning again. Nice horse for better class races than this later in career and Heavy track today is no issue for him.
