BEST BETS

R1 n5 WAIMARIE Leads and controls on map 5th up off 10 days drops 1.5kg stays at 1600m. Last start Sandown H8 with blinkers on first time was way to good leading and winning by 2.5L (Zahra had first ride). I don’t think there was a lot of quality behind her there but leading and controlling on this track has never ever been a disadvantage and now proven/suited at 1600m. Soft track is a real plus.

R7 n11 MATHEW Good map forward early inside behind the lead group 5th up off 17 days drops 5.5kg out to 20240m (+240m). Last start Sandown S6 sat back gth but too strong late won by 0.3L. Suited out to 2040m and is the emerging lightly raced 6YO stayer in a top stable and had a genuine excuse two starts back with a post-race issue. He is up from BM78 to a BM100, but just looks the right horse today off this map with 53kg to be winning this race. Softer track is a real bonus for him.

BEST BETS

R4 n1 AGE OF SAIL Maps closer inside 4th up off 21 days rises 1kg stays at 2400m. Last start Rosehill (T/TIE on again) 55 went back 8th on a slow tempo and held up badly in straight. Once clear had 8th fastest L200m of meeting and clearly should have won the race beaten 0.2L when heavily backed. Gets revenge today for that and expecting Nash to have him closer to lead today off the inside draw.

R6 n7 HI DUBAI Ideal map 3rd inside on leaders back. 4th up off 14 days rises 1kg out to 1200m (+100m). Last start Randwick H8 drew wide sat 4th on slow tempo and was wide there but that was the best going and was too strong late winning by 0.3L at bigger odds. Had excuses prior two runs (first for C Maher-ex Waterhouse/Bott) and is better suited back on dryer track. Her best figures win this race clearly.

R8 n3 SCHWARZ Good map 4th in 1/1 position. Resumes off a short 70-day spell and won trial Warwick Farm July 26. He was given a proper trail there by J Mac and won it effortlessly. This race is clearly a target Group 2 kill for him off the short break and QLD winter. Looks too good for these off that set up and this map.

R9 n9 ARAMCO Forward on map to be in lead from wider draw. 3rd up off 28 days drops 2.5kg stays at 1800m. Last start Randwick S7 (XONB First Time) raced 2nd on a fast tempo and too strong late winning by 0.6L against weaker quality field than today at 20a run for Waller stable (ex M Price). Figures from race were outstanding. Lot better on dry tracks and proven out to 2000M -he can really run along on fast tempos up front and then tough it out late. Those horses are always hard to beat and 53kg today is a luxury for him.

R10 n6 WILLAIDOW Leads and controls on map 2nd up off 21 days stays at 1200m. Resumed off 98-day spell Rosehill S5 led and controlled from inside draw on an even tempo on a day when there was a strong head wind- it was very tough for leaders at that meeting. His effort to be beaten late 1.2L by Iron Man was outstanding. Gets blinkers off but should still lead and control on map-he will take some catching today. Good horse still to be in a BM78.

BEST BETS

R4 n5 BOHEMIAN LAD 5th up off 14 days out to 1300m (+100m). Unbeaten on this track (2/2). Last start drew outside went back on an even tempo (it was an on-speed race) but ran home strongly for 3rd beaten 2.81 by Invincible Shield who is very smart. His last three runs have all been good and will be well suited here late down the middle of the track off this tempo. Softer track suits today.

Toowoomba Meeting Selections

 Race 3: 7,8,3,6  Race 6: 8,3,5,6

BEST BETS

R7 n2 REIGNING ALPHA Unlucky not to win on debut then resumed with a tough win in good time over this course and distance last start. Is drawn for the right run and gets a handy claim for apprentice rider, can go on with it.
