BEST BETS

R1 n4 Kureder – Sits midfield on map inside with back of I Am the Empire again. This is 8th run for prep off 14 days and back up to 2400m (+200m). Well placed at the weights staying in BM78 class off last start win when slow away at $2.50 on Soft 6 track and has won 2400m here in BM65. Unbeaten since Blinkers went on and J Orman again off this map makes him the horse to beat again. Overall numbers only fair but looks progressive enough to put this lot away again.

R7 n2 Extremist – Crosses from wider draw and should get over to lead 4th up off 14 days and drops 1.5kg weight back to 1300m (-100m). Well placed this weight scale and a lot less pressure today up front. Went out way too hard last start and excuses on that front- this tempo suits a lot better today and back to 1300m is a perfect set up for a leader this distance range. Has race fitness edge on main rival Better Get Set who will tag her in the run.

R8 n5 Freedom Rally – Maps ok mid field behind this tempo 2nd up off 21 days and out to 1400m (+200m)- that’s a very good set up. Laid in under pressure in straight last start resuming when clearly needed run resuming. Will be ready here in target race today- the winner of this race qualifies the connections for a spot in next year’s Stradbroke so the leading stable will have him primed up today off 21 days.

R9 n17 Helluva Barty – Maps well behind this tempo inside 3rd up off 21 days drops 2kg weight and stays at 1200m. Poorly ridden last start on very slow tempo- he had zero chance of winning that race off that race shape and tempo. Convinced he is going to develop into an open class horse in Brisbane. Huxtable is normally an aggressive jockey and I expect he will be a lot more positive on him early today from the inside draw and put him right in this race early from a map perspective.

Randwick Meeting Selections

 Race 1: 2,1,4,7  Race 4: 8* from 1,6,14  Race 7: 19,2,10,13,6
 Race 2: 1* from 4,6,2  Race 5: 2,10,6,3  Race 8: 5,10,3,6
 Race 3: 2* from 5,7,8  Race 6: 6* from 9,2,7  Race 9: 5,2,7,1
 Race 10: 1,11,7,2

BEST BETS

R2 n1 Step Aside – Awkward map back MF on inside but has Nash (takes over from Collett) and he rarely makes a mess of good draws like this on roomy tracks like Randwick. 2nd up off 24 days and best horse in this race by a margin. Figures were great last start when poorly placed in the run. Crowded and had to duck and weave through to win with nose roll on. Figures huge from race and the meeting and form from that race has been franked since. Out to 1400m only suits better and is emerging horse for this class of race.

R3 n2 Golden Decade – Great map 3rd fence at 5th run prep off 14 days and had excuses lasts start when beaten in Brisbane at $2.25 when wide no cover with 60kg on a Soft 6 track. Nash and Dunn again in a Highway. Maps great here on leaders back on a slow tempo and there should be no excuses from there for him in this class.

R4 n8 Terra Mater – Great map 4th in 1/1 and 2nd up off 15 days and down 1kg out to 1200m (+100m) off VG win resuming at 1100m last start. Had a huge L600 off a very slow tempo there and was a soft win on the line- she had plenty left there. Maps perfectly for Nash and really nice emerging mare this class.

R6 n6 Wineglass Bay – Nice map 4th in 1×1. Deeper into prep 8th run for prep off 21 days but did have a 48 day break prior to last start. Out to 2000m (+150m) is a plus and drops 2kg weight. Had EPC in the run last start beating Iminittowin but gets same map again here and advantaged out to 2000m from that last race. There was real quality in his closing sectionals last start. They were dominant for the race and it’s hard to see him regressing off that. Impossible not to have him on top again here and seems real value.

Ballarat Meeting Selections

 Race 1: 3,5,1,6  Race 4: 4,7,6,5  Race 7: 8* from 9,12,7
 Race 2: 7,10,5,2  Race 5: 8,12,1,11  Race 8: 10,8,1,11
 Race 3: 14,11,12,13  Race 6: 16* from 12,17,10  Race 9: 3,11,6,8
 Race 10: 19,6,11,2

BEST BETS

R6 n16 Divine Purpose – 2nd up off 21 days and was VG resuming Caulfield when well backed late. Ex Rockhampton horse now with Moody stable and race shape was right against. Didn’t have best of luck in straight even allowing for inside favours that day and light weight. Will improve off that run fitness wise off 21 days and proven in soft ground only two attempts. Might be better than these today.

R7 n8 A Little Deep – Resumed off 335 days at Moe on Good 4 track and overpowered that field late off a very slow tempo from the back in weak class and has had 2 jump outs since. Dominated every sectional from the 800m to the finish at that meeting- it was a good return as track played to leaders that day. VG this race last year 2nd up on a H8 track to be just beaten and her wide draw here could prove an advantage by this time of the meeting. Looks winner.

Toowoomba Meeting Selections

 Race 1: 9* from 1,12,5  Race 4: 5,9,7,10  Race 7: 1,6,8
 Race 2: 4,9,6,8  Race 5: 2 e/w* 5,1,4
 Race 3: 2* 7,5,1  Race 6: 1,7,8,5

BEST BETS

BEST BET: R3 n2 Super Thief – should’ve finished closer when resumed for a nice 4th at this track and trip last start. Strips much fitter and good jockey riding, looks the winner.

BEST EACH WAY: R5 n2 Drop The Pilot – has run well at every start this campaign including a dominant win over this course and distance two back then took off early but fought on well for 3rd when back to a mile at this track last start, maps well and has solid each way claims.
