BEST BETS

R6 3 n3 Acquitted – Began awkwardly and got well back resuming off a Slow tempo at 1300m behind Ka Bling. Not clear until 200m out and very strong home from there- winner sat 3rd. Rider was queried by stewards. Last time on a Heavy track he walked in at Wyong and it was also the last time he came off a fast tempo which he will get today. Out to 1600m suits which he is stakes placed at, he is the right class NSW horse for Brisbane racing and Orman on today a real bonus. Gets back on map but will be charging late and the wetter the track the better for him.

R7 n3 Abounding – Has map advantage over market rivals here- it’s the first time she has drawn a decent barrier. Resumed last start winning off 140 day spell, her L600 off that set up was very good and had plenty left on the line. Ran 2nd only run on Soft 6 this track in Listed class during carnival. She nearly won a Group 2 and two Listed races at her last three starts before a spell, class filly.

R8 7 Nettuno

– Impressive last start winner, held up early in straight there and strong late off fast tempo. Looked a star 2yo, won first 3 starts on wet tracks then spelled and straight to Sydney for Spring campaign- held up first 2 runs in high class races there. Was spelled quickly after only run in Autumn when ridden forward on suicidal tempo from wide barrier before resuming last start at Sunshine Coast.  Maps very well here and loves soft tracks. Classy young emerging sprinter in great stable and clear top pick

 Race 2: 12,4,8,3  Race 5: 28 from 4,10,1  Race 8: 3,1,6,8
 Race 3: 8* from 10,2,1  Race 6: 4,1,13,17,10  Race 9: 1,3,2,4,12
 Race 10: 12,8,3,5

BEST BETS

R3 n8 Toesonthenose – Deeper into prep but racing well. Off 14 days and out to 1800m (+200m) He was in BM72 class winning last start with 59kg and won well from the back off a slow tempo and well backed $4. Proven on wet tracks but no wins past 1600m and was well beaten at only run past 1600m leading at 2000m. Maps mid field on fence and although Midway to BM78 (normally a no go zone) he looks better than these now after scratching of Tavi Time.

R5 n2 Shadows of Love – 5th run for prep and on 7 day back up. Out to 1400m (+200m) and up 3kg in weight staying in BM78 which is fair enough. Racing very well and 1400m looks to suit and wet track from very good. Hard to fault her recent form she has been super strong late at 1200m so 1400m will be no issue this tempo. A mare in form is always the way to go.

R7 n17 Grebeni – 3rd up off 27 days and out to 1500m (+100m) Was slow ay last start winning and had excuses first up when heat stress in Silver Eagle behind Vienna Princess and then nothing went right for him winning Goulburn Cup. Loves Rosehill and wet tracks and although out of handicap here as a BM86 horse he is still very dangerous. Has always shown he is going to be right up to this class of race when he matures and I believe he is way ahead of his current handicap-that is a good time to be backing horses. Gets well back on map but will get his chance late with 53kg.

Caulfield Meeting Selections

 Race 1: 4,9,6,2  Race 4: 3,6,2,8  Race 7: 8,1,3,9,12
 Race 2: 6,3,4,7  Race 5: 1,3,4,5  Race 8: 7* from 10,11,1
 Race 3: 11,7,10,12  Race 6: 3* from 2,10,4  Race 9: 3* from 5,1,11
 Race 10: 8* from 2,9,1

BEST BETS

R6 n3 King Magnus – 2nd up off 28 days and well placed this weight scale. Maps well and excellent return last start 1400m at Flemington. Only beaten 1.7L at $31 and his L600 there was huge off a good speed. Loves Soft tracks if expected rain comes and very classy summer horse.

R8 n7 Duke De Sessa 5th up off 21 days and up 1.5kg back in distance to 2400m(-200m) Should have the back of the leader on this map and not the best of luck between 500-400m last start when jockey was asleep when 2nd  to Muramasa who took his run. That won’t happen today with Zahra riding. Clearly on top if rain comes.

R9 n3 Thalassophile – 5th run off 21 days and looks target race from stable with blinkers first time. Back 400m in distance is ok this stable back to 1600m into a prep. Now 273 days between wins and maps back mid field from the soft draw but will be very strong late here with D Lane aboard and loves wet tracks.

R10 8 Ghaanati – 5th run for prep off 14 days and drops 1kg in weight. Maps mid field but tempo suits. Last start 2nd at Caulfield very good behind Rose Quartz and wins this race if she repeats that. Winkers off this prep and all runs have been good and I like J Kah getting aboard today for first time- she will suit this mare. Proven on Soft 6 tracks and I expect she would totally appreciate a return to those conditions today.

Toowoomba Meeting Selections

 Race 2: 2,11,6,8  Race 5: 4* & 6* from 1
 Race 3: 3,10,4,6  Race 6: 4* from 2

BEST BETS

BEST BET: R4 n1 FIERY RING resumes in an average maiden, he has placed 9 times from 15 starts and 3 of those have been in Brisbane. Has come back in good form judging by his recent jump out win and from the inside gate, looks the winner.

NEXT BEST: R7 n1 THE RIGHT WAY is a progressive horse who comes here hard fit on the back of a strong 2nd at this track over a mile last start. The rise in distance is ideal and can see him rolling to the front and leading all the way.

BEST VALUE: R6 n4 BEAN DANCING is a smart horse resuming from a spell, his best form is over slightly further but expecting him to sprint well fresh on the back of a couple of nice jump outs. Maps to trail a hot speed and can run over the top of them late at nice odds.
