Proven on genuinely wet tracks and at 1200m. Has residual fitness advantage over the fresh horses in this race coming off a shorter break and brilliant trial. Really emerged last prep and looks clear top pick here.
R9 n4 GIVE ME SPACE Maps behind lead group and suited this tempo. 3* race start off 21 days rises 2kg and stays at 1200m. Last start Doomben drew soft and went back 7th early off an even tempo (unsuited) and charged late to win impressively by 0.4L. He had no clear room at all from the 200-100m and his effort to win like he did at this track was outstanding. Overall figures from race were solid but he had the 3rd fastest L200m of meeting despite the above. J Orman back aboard and is a genuine talent- unlucky not to win on debut S6 track here.

R5 n3 BULLETS HIGH Mapos 4P back off inside and suited there this tempo. Gets back on map. 4th up off 14 days and well suited out to 1800m (+200m). Last start BM78 Newcastle G4 went back to 6*h on an even tempo and charged home late for 2’* just beaten by Dazzle Legend when smashed late in betting. Overall figures were basic but he had the 71h fastest L200m of meeting. Screaming out for +1800, proven on soft tracks and with T Clark and a suitable map this tempo- he looks the winner.
R9 n14 TOWNSEND Leads and controls on map. 3d up off 14 days drops 4.5kg and out to 2000m (+150m). Last start BM88 Newcastle drew soft and led/controlled on a very fast tempo and bolted in winning by 3.4L. Overall figures were best of meeting. Given long spell 413 days prior to this prep and gelded but both runs back and have been terrific. Dominant win last start and proven in heavy ground as a 2YO. Lightly raced-well-bred and leads and controls again today for T Berry.

Resumed gelded off 208 days Listed Flemington G4 BM78 drew inside down the straight (not ideal) went back 10th early on a slow tempo (unsuited) beaten 2.3L by Way Too The Stars who led and controlled out wider. He sat back last inside (wrong part of track) and not much luck there late in that race. Overall figures from race were best of meeting and he had a strong L400m close. This race suits M Dee knows is a key jockey change and he will be strong late here in smaller field now gelded.
R8 n3 ARAPAHO Map suits forward inside behind lead group. 4th up off 21 days and suited out to 2400m (+400m). Last start Group 1 Flemington went back 10th and was wide no cover on an even tempo running 5th to Via Sistina beaten 6L. Overall figures from race were outstanding as you would expect from a race of that class. That form line is clearly superior for a race like this. His run there was very similar to Without A Fight, finishing only 1L behind him at the finish. That horse would run odds on in this field. Proven at 2400m Group 1 level and loves soft tracks and very well placed at WFA.
R9 n1 TUVALU Map suits forward inside 2 up off 14 days rises 2kg and stays at 1400m. Resumed off 199 days Group 1 Caulfield drew outside went back last early on a fast tempo and ran home late for 5th beaten 3L by Kimochi. Overall figures from race were outstanding as you would expect from a race of that class and off that tempo. 2* up stays at 1400m which is never ideal but they basically used that race as a barrier trial with such a negative ride early. Maps closer today behind a hot speed- has got VG 2 up form and loves the wet. Better than these horses and under the WFA scale he will not find a more suitable race.
R10 n11 REGAL VOW 3rd up off 14 days rises 1kg and well suited out to 1600m (+200m). Last start Caulfield G4 was slow away sat back 7th on a very slow tempo and ran home powerfully to win by 0.8L. Overall figures from race were plain off that slow early speed but she let rip late with the 3ra fastest L600m of meeting and the 6th fastest L200m of meeting. It was a brilliant win 2d up and she can only be fitter and better suited out to 1600m off a faster tempo on a soft track. Good mare destined for better races.
