BEST BETS

R4 1 Golden Decade – Awkward map early, has to go back early but small field suits. 4th run prep off 14 days and up +3.5kg in weight and out to 1350m (+150m). Has been very strong late last two starts off very slow tempos and 1350m here will have to suit him. Up to 60kg but is clear top pick on best form and should be winning.

R5 3 Midnight in Tokyo – 3rd up off 14 days and will be closer on this map from soft draw. Won FM BM78 last start very impressively when heavily backed at $2.40. Got the cross over noseband on there and produced a huge last 600m off a slow tempo to win easily. Stays in BM78 class and 58kg but against the males today. Has some high quality figures last prep and loves soft tracks. Out to 1350m off an average tempo will suit her and she looks better than these.

R6 14 Madame Odette – 2nd up off 21 days and out to 1615m (+315m) and will be mid field on map but suited this tempo. Very good resuming 1300m last start, sat back off a slow tempo behind April In Augusta and was wide no cover from the 600m. Ran home hard there when well backed and there was some real quality in her closing figures off that tempo. Wins this race easily on her best figures last prep and she looks to have come back well. An improving track also suits her.

R9 10 The Catch – Maps well behind leaders and now 5th run of prep. Racing well for new stable J Bruce (ex B Baker). 3rd last start in very fast high rating race Doomben where he had no favours behind Awesome Lad (tear away leader Calm Seeker) race where the field broke up. He was 3 wide no cover and out on a limb chasing off that tempo but kept coming to the line beaten 1.7L. Loves soft tracks and very well suited today with 53kg against market rivals this race.

 Race 10: 5 from 4,1,2

BEST BETS

R6 n11 Free Willed – Good map and resuming off 168 days- this looks a target race by the local stable. Holds the inside early this map and either leads or box seats behind the leader. Prior to spelling she was in the worst going at Sandown on Slow7 in very good figures. No luck her two runs prior to that either but all her figures have been good. She is a talented mare to be backing in a BM70 with 56kg.

R7 n1 Gregolimo – Maps very well 4th up off 16 days and all good on wet if rain arrives. Dropped back to 1800 last start and wayward in the straight (gets gear change today) unlucky not to win there. Very good behind Muramasa both runs prior and that form has been well and truly franked since. Finds the right race and set up here.

R10 n5 Jimmysstar – 3rd up off 24 days and gets back on map but tempo here will suit him running home late. Huge win resuming gelded at Bendigo 1300m – was well ridden there by B Shinn but his finishing speed there ducking and weaving through traffic was excellent. He was completely dominant for race. Has to come from the back again this race but out to 1500m and C Williams will sort that out. He is a very talented  horse who is grades above Class 3 class.

 Race 2: 5,2,6,11  Race 5: 4,11,7,9  Race 8: 8,6,10,12
 Race 3: 3,8,6,10  Race 6: 7,11,9,3  Race 9: 5* from 7,10,8
 Race 10: 5,11,12,2

BEST BETS

R7 n3 Osipenko – 5th run prep off 49 days and a trial on Oct 27. Sets a clear standard in this race and has a bank of figures that are just better than these horses. Draws out on map which will be ideal and has excellent wet track stats. J Mac to ride- he will bring him to the centre of this track late and he will be too strong from there. This race would have been targeted by Waller stable earlier in prep. All 4 runs this prep have been in Group 1 races and he has been good in all of them.

R9 n5 Headwall – Resumes off 224 days and two trials. Wet form very good. Lightly raced and talented young horse- figures and SP profile last prep were good. With the scratching of Emperor it really leaves him clearly on top of this field class wise. Maps well and stale have no issues resuming him on this ground now so fitness levels will be all good. If that’s the case he is too good for this field.

Toowoomba Meeting Selections

 Race 1: 9,5,10,3  Race 4: 9 e/w 1,10,6  Race 7: 14,4,10,2,7
 Race 2: 10,2,6,5  Race 5: 6,7,2  Race 8: 8,2,1
 Race 3: 5,2,6,10  Race 6: 7* from 2,9,10

BEST BETS

BEST BET: R6 n7 LA BELLA DIVA – has much more ability than her form suggests, she had no luck on debut then had excuses when resuming in Brisbane last start. Has shown plenty on the track and this looks her race from the soft draw.

BEST ROUGHIE: R4 n9 BEARHUG – was a strong winner over this track and trip last campaign and has been racing well without luck this time in. Gets a jockey upgrade and maps well, each way value chance.
